2024
2021
Samarth dove into population health as Head of Member Engagement Operations at Cityblock. He built and led a 100+ engagement team to improve member on-boarding rates by 140% in 12 months. In 2022, he joined CareHarmony as an early, non-founding, executive leader overseeing all non-clinical operations in a fast growing health-tech org.
Samarth left the NYTimes to work as a data and strategy consultant in politics and media. He primarily worked with Incite Studio and Fellow Americans on COVID, Black Lives Matter and Biden campaign communications.
2020
Samarth joined the New York Times newsroom as an Audience Analytics Manager. He contributed to the 2020 Report, became a Senior Editor for Digital Transition Strategy, built and lead a team that managed the newsroom’s transition from a premiere print newsroom to a premiere digital newsroom.

From 2017-2020, Samarth taught a course on Data & Communication in Fordham University’s Master of Arts in Public Media program.
2015
Samarth moved to Brooklyn, NY to join a small team of analysts at Etsy.com. He helped product teams conduct web experiments, wrote company white papers and built internal data products.
2013
Samarth joined the 2012 Obama re-election campaign as a data analyst, studying web and voter data to fund raise, contact and mobilize voters.
2011
Samarth moved to Chicago to attend the MAPSS program at the University of Chicago. He completed graduate coursework and a thesis in computational social science about political participation online. He also sang with the University choir.
2010
Samarth studied International Studies, Arabic and Communications at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While there, he sang with Chai-Town, an award-winning Hindi-English acappella group. And participated in a number of student groups on campus. He also coached a local swim team and worked at a local real estate office.
2006
Samarth moved with his family to the United States in 1998. They settled in Bloomington-Normal, IL. Samarth attended public schools, graduating from Normal Community High School in 2006. While in high school, Samarth competed on the Illinois High School swimming circuit, sang tenor in choir and spent time reading about foreign policy in local bookstores after 9/11.
Samarth was born in New Delhi, India. He and his younger sister, Saru Bhaskar, grew up in New Delhi.

After building healthcare companies remotely, Samarth joined Duolingo as a Group Content Program Manager in Pittsburgh, PA. He is working on scaling Duolingo’s language content with AI to serve millions of language learners around the world.
