2021-2022
Samarth joined Cityblock Health as Head of Member Engagement Operations to radically improve healthcare for low-income Medicare, Medicaid and Dual-eligible members. He built and led a 100+ engagement team to improve member on-boarding rates by 40% in 12 months.
2020-2021
Samarth left the NYTimes to work as a data and strategy consultant in politics and media. He primarily worked with Incite Studio and Fellow Americans. And took a sabbatical to work on his first book.
2015-2020
Samarth joined the New York Times newsroom as an Audience Analytics Manager. In 2016, he contributed to the 2020 Report. In 2017, he became a Senior Editor for Digital Transition Strategy, helping build and lead a team that managed the newsroom’s transition from a premiere print newsroom to a premiere digital newsroom.

From 2017-2020, Samarth taught a course called Data & Communication in Fordham University’s Master of Arts in Public Media program.
2013-2015
Samarth moved to Brooklyn, NY to join a small team of analysts at a growing tech company, Etsy.com. There he helped product teams conduct web experiments, wrote company white papers and built internal data products.
2011-2013
Samarth joined the 2012 Obama re-election campaign as a data analyst, studying web and voter data to fund raise, contact and mobilize voters.
2010-2011
Samarth moved to Chicago to attend the MAPSS program at the University of Chicago. He completed graduate coursework and a thesis in computational political science about political participation online. He also sang with the University choir.
2006-2010
Samarth studied International Studies, Arabic and Communications at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While there, he sang with Chai-Town, an award-winning Hindi-English acappella group. And participated in a number of student groups on campus. He also coached a local swim team and worked at a local real estate office.
1998-2006
Samarth moved with his family to the United States in 1998. They settled in Bloomington-Normal, IL. Samarth attended public schools, graduating from Normal Community High School in 2006. While in high school, Samarth competed on the Illinois High School swimming circuit, sang tenor in choir and spent time reading about foreign policy in local bookstores after 9/11.
Samarth grew up in New Delhi, with his younger sister, Saru Bhaskar.

Samarth and his family moved to Pittsburgh PA to be closer to family. He joined Care Harmony as Head of Business Operations, continuing to serve Medicare members with tech-enabled complex care coordination services.
